Short description: The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the current knowledge of cytophysiology eukaryotic cells.
Full description: The aim of the course is to acquaint students with contemporary knowledge of the cytology with particular emphasis on the construction of eukaryotic cells and their cytophysiology. Students will become familiar with the issues of modern cell biology, such as stem cells, neoplastic processes and molecular mechanisms of intercellular interactions, including shedding of microvesicles and exosomes.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: W1: Characterizes structural elements of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells [BC1_W06]. W2: Knows the theory explaining the origin of eukaryotic cells [BC1_W06]. W3: Is able to characterize the differences in cytophysiology of osteoblast, osteoclast, chondroblast and knows characteristics of multipotent stromal cells [BC1_W06, BC1_W07]. Skills: U1: Uses a light microscope and an inverted light microscope [BC1_U02, BC1_U15]. U2: Is able to recognize and describe the main functions of the cell organelles [BC1_U02, BC1_U15]. U3: Is able to prepare short multimedia presentation based on current articles from cell biology [BC1_U18, BC1_U19]. Social competences: K1: Applies the principles of aseptic and safe work [BC1_K09]. K2: Shows care for entrusted equipment [BC1_K08].
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: The final grade consists of: - Marks from the tests (70%) - Evaluation of a multimedia presentation prepared and discussed by the student (30%)
